Part of the range we produce ourselves. The rest we buy at origin, which is the reason we can tell a buyer what a lot actually is rather than what it was sold to us as. It is slower than buying ready stock, and it is the part of the work that decides everything after it.

Finished, or ready for you to finish.

A crop rarely arrives ready to sell. In our own factories it can be cleaned, sorted by colour and size, brought to one grade, opened, processed and packed — whatever turns a harvest into something a buyer can put in front of a customer.

We do that work when a buyer wants it done, and we leave it alone when they would rather do it themselves. Tell us which, and we will price it accordingly.

Most of it ends up on a table.

Distributors, wholesalers, retailers and manufacturers buy from us. Past them it turns up on a market stall, on a supermarket shelf, at a wedding, or in a bowl on a family table — and some of it goes into something else entirely.

Almost all of it is looked at before it is bought. That is worth knowing when you are deciding how much finishing a lot needs.
